Why do we live in Clear Creek County? To enjoy the mountains. However, we cannot escape the rat race, even here. We get caught up in working, living our lives and sometimes, don’t take time to go on a hike in the woods. Or, some of us don’t have the energy left to hike up the mountains to enjoy nature as much as we would like.
I visited Alvarado during sunset this last summer. I took a slow walk around the park, nobody was around, and the park was so active. There were dozens of large blue dragonflies darting around taking care of the insects, a bat was flying around skimming the water, feeding, the fish were jumping and you could see fish swimming in the river. It would be a real experience for a person who does not fish, or hunt to experience nature like this. It was so relaxing to feel, experience and see nature close up.
Alvarado could become a Native Botanical Gardens that can be enjoyed by citizens of Clear Creek County. The goal would be to discover, cultivate, and showcase our unique plant diversity. Having a Rocky Mountain Native Botanical Garden would help the citizens of Clear Creek appreciate their local native plants. It would showcase the variety of ground covers, grasses, shrubs, trees, and flowers available. It could encourage them to cultivate native plants in their yards.
While I was out planting a tree in our yard, my neighbor told me that, around here all you can grow is weeds. Of course, some people think that our native plants are just weeds. We walked out this week and there was a small, dark green plant growing on our gravel path. We looked it up and it was one of the smallest flowering alpine plants; it will have one little flower that sticks up. I personally cannot wait to see it flower. It seems that people think that native plants do not have the same appeal as annual flowers. We could help change this perspective. Native Rocky Mountain plants have a subtle beauty. The best part about having a Native Botanical Garden, is that once the plant is established, it requires very little water or fertilizer
We all enjoy a walk in nature. We all moved here to enjoy the mountains. Alvarado could be a mountain Zen garden, where you go to rejuvenate. Doctors tell us that getting out and experiencing nature is therapeutic, reduces stress and depression. A relaxing stroll in the Native Botanical Garden would be to enjoy all that our Rocky Mountains can offer. To be enjoyed by all citizens of Clear Creek. We need Alvarado to be a Native Botanical Garden and, it fits perfect with the current management plan.

I want to say THANK YOU for providing the bus transit system, like any other well-run county! I appreciate that I don't have to drive myself places all the time, especially during inclement weather or high winds. The bus drivers are all nice and considerate and the bus service is handy. The country transit website only has places to lodge complaints, so I came here to say something positive. You have no idea how much the bus system helps our communities, but it DOES!

Do you have a new pavement plan for county roads? A lot of dirt roads in our neighborhood butt up to paved roads and it would be so nice if there were more paved!!

Saddleback side of Floyd Hill. (Wish Elk Valley Rd was paved)

The numbers for covid19 are more than 2 weeks old. Is it possible to have more timely updates?
